Kruger United shot-stopper Dandjinou reflects on facing Messi's last penalty

The 28-year-old started in goal for the Cheetahs in a historic clash at the Estadio Monumental which saw talisman Messi play in his final match for his national team.

Dandjinou conceded three times in the second half, with Nicolas Otamendi opening the scoring in the 48th minute while Nico Paz added a second on the hour mark before Messi converted emphatically from the spot in the 71st minute.

“In that moment, he was the only one I was facing. I wish it was not a penalty," said the Benin goalkeeper exclusively to FARPost.

"Taking his last penalty, he played to my left. The last penalty at the World Cup he missed it, so for me I thought he was going to change [his target]."

"But he didn't change. He went for the top corner with power because, in the game, I think I stopped him too much. I told myself I won't give him the game. So, he made sure that he took a very good penalty."

He will turn his attention to the Betway Premiership, where his club side United will travel to face Chippa United in a lower table encounter at the Buffalo City Stadium next Saturday.
