CAF gives Kenya three-month deadline to complete key AFCON 2027 tasks

Kenya are set to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament alongside Uganda and Tanzania under the "Pamoja Bid".

A delegation of CAF officials embarked on an inspection tour of the facilities to be used for the AFCON tournament in Kenya and have issued a three-month deadline to resolve safety protocols, crowd management systems and the quality of the playing pitches.

According to Nation, concerns are centred on the structural integrity and operational capacity of Kenya's main stadiums [Kasarani and the Nyayo National Stadium].

The country was also directed to install the Venue Operations Centre (COV) within three months to accommodate all safety and security representatives while all infrastructure must be ready six months before kick-off.

Failure to address these concerns timeously may lead to Kenya potentially forfeiting some matches to their co-hosting nations.
