The 35-year-old shared the news through his social media platforms, bidding farewell to the Atlas Lions only four months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
"Today, I close the most beautiful chapter of my footballer life. After careful consideration, it is with great emotion that I announce my international retirement," wrote Saïss.
Saïss earned 86 caps for Morocco, scoring three goals, with his last appearance being in the opening 2025 Africa Cup of Nations clash against the Comoros where he was forced off the field with a 19th minute injury, ruling him out for the rest of the tournament.
The centre-back previously led the Moroccan side to an unprecedented semi-final appearance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the furthest an African side has gone in the global showpiece.
He also thanked all staff involved in his stint with the Atlas Lions, the Moroccan supporters, King Mohammed VI, as well as his family.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Besiktas defender will turn his full attention to his Qatari Stars League club Al Sadd, who currently occupy first position on the table, four ahead of second placed Al-Shamal.
