FIFA Friendlies: Portugal, Brazil shine while Mexico, Belgium settle for stalemate

USA 0-2 Portugal

Portugal emerged victorious at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, dealing the United States their eighth consecutive defeat against European opposition. Despite a high-energy start and several clear chances for Christian Pulisic, the Americans couldn't find the net.

Portugal proved far more clinical; Francisco Trincao opened the scoring in the 37th minute following a slick backheel assist from Bruno Fernandes. Joao Felix doubled the lead in the second half with a powerful strike, leaving the hosts with plenty of questions before the World Cup.

Brazil 3-1 Croatia

Brazil claimed the win in Orlando, securing a measure of revenge for their 2022 World Cup exit with a late surge. Danilo broke the deadlock just before halftime, but Croatia fought back to equalize through Lovro Majer in the 83rd minute.

However, the Seleçao snatched the victory in the closing moments; rising star Endrick won a penalty that Igor Thiago converted in the 88th minute, before Gabriel Martinelli added a third in stoppage time to seal the result.

Mexico 1-1 Belgium

There was no winner at Soldier Field as Mexico and Belgium played out a tactical 1-1 draw. El Tri dominated the first half with a relentless high press, taking a deserved lead in the 19th minute when Jorge Sanchez bundled home a rebound.

However, Belgium responded almost immediately after the restart through a stunning 20-yard curling effort from Dodi Lukebakio. Despite a late push from both sides, the defenses held firm to ensure the match ended all square.
