Ashley Du Preez back where it all started after completing return to Stellenbosch FC

The forward made his debut for Stellies in 2016 and went on to make 98 appearances for the Western Cape outfit before joining Amakhosi ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The 29-year-old spent four years at Naturena, during which he helped the Amakhosi win the 2025 Nedbank Cup trophy, but has now made his way back to his boyhood club as part the deal that took Langelihle Phili the other way.

"I always knew that I would come back to Stellenbosch," Du Preez said. "It's great to be back where I grew up and at the Club where it all started for me, and to be part of the Stellenbosch family again.

"The community knows me well and has supported me since the start of my professional career, so being a local player and representing the Club again is a huge honour and privilege for me. It's an amazing feeling to be back."

Du Preez will bolster a Stellenbosch attack that fired blanks in their Betway Premiership opener against Amazulu in a 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

Gavin Hunt's charges will look to get their campaign on track when they travel to take on Polokwane City on 11 August.
