The Mali Football Association are currently in search of a new coach following the exit of Tom Saintfiet.
The former Eagles international defender has previously worked with the Mali Under 23s and in the technical structures of both the senior Mali team and with neighbours Guinea.
Mali need a new mentor to lead their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and Diawara, who claimed over 50 national caps, feels he is the right man for the job.
"I would like to reiterate my desire to secure the position of Mali’s head coach,” he said on Africa Soccer.
"I have been working with the national team for several years.
“I am ready, and I have an experienced coaching staff. My application will be in the federation’s hands very soon.”
