Fernando Da Cruz's side kicked off their campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over newly promoted Kruger United.
They needed two second-half goals to see off Sekhukhune United last time out as the Brazilians edged TS Galaxy 3-2 in their opening league encounter, after conceding their title to Orlando Pirates.
There have been some chinks in the Chiefs' armour as a rotated squad lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows in the MTN8 as Downs just about saw off Polokwane City, also 3-2.
Ahead of the game, Da Cruz admitted that despite his side's form, he would have preffered to have faced Sundowns at a later stage in their campaign.
"It's a bit disappointing [to face Sundowns now], it's a bit early for a match like this in the season and we're the only team in the PSL to play three games in six days, the others play three in seven days,” he said on iDiski Times.
"So, we have one less day of recovery, but it’s not a problem, it’s not an excuse, this game will be played, we know it’s like that and we can’t change anything [about the schedule].
“Sundowns is the best team in Africa, because they won the Champions League last season.”
"But we will try to raise our level, to Champions League level on Saturday – this game will give us very good information on what this team is capable of,” the Chiefs coach said.
Brazilians boss Miguel Cardoso has expressed concern over his teams's defending after conceding four goals in two games.
"It's quite rare that we suffer two goals. Unfortunately, in the last two games, two shots and two goals. It is not something that makes me happy; we have to correct it as a team. We must have the right behaviour when we defend high and when we defend set pieces," he said in the Sowetan.
"When we suffer two, we have a high risk of losing the match, and obviously, we cannot lose points now, otherwise it will be a problem.
"But at the moment, two matches played, two victories. We get the energy from the victories."
Sundowns will be without long-term injury absentees injured, Arthur Sales, Keanu Cupido as well as Teboho Mokoena, while Chiefs have a lengthy casualty list that includes Rushwin Dortley, Ethan Chislett and Flavio da Silva.
