Bernardo Silva signals Man City farewell in emotional exit message

The 31-year-old midfielder announced his decision in a heartfelt social media message, thanking supporters, staff and teammates after nine remarkable years in Manchester. He said: "When I arrived nine years ago, I was following a dream, this club gave me much more than I ever hoped for."

Since joining in 2017, Silva had made 451 appearances, scoring 76 goals and providing 77 assists. His influence under manager Pep Guardiola was central to City's dominance, with the Portuguese star collecting 19 major trophies.

Those honours included six Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, two FA Cups and five League Cups, alongside a historic Treble and the famous "Centurions" season. Silva also recently captained City to Carabao Cup success against Arsenal, underlining his leadership role in the squad.

Reflecting on his journey, Silva added: "What we won and achieved together is a legacy that will forever be cherished in my heart." He also highlighted the personal side of his time in England, saying Manchester was where he "started my marriage and my family".

The midfielder paid special tribute to the supporters, stating: "Your unconditional support throughout the years is something I will never forget… I arrived as a Man City player, I leave as one more of you."

Despite confirming his departure, Silva made it clear his focus remained on finishing strongly. City are still competing for major honours this season, and he urged the squad to "fight for what this season still brings us".

With his departure looming, Silva will be remembered as one of City's finest modern players - a consistent performer, a big-game presence, and a key figure in an era that redefined success at the club.
