Tottenham star James Maddison could face suspension for social media comments

The result left Spurs frustrated after missing the opportunity to move four points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United in the Premier League table.

Tottenham appeared on course for victory after Mathys Tel fired home a stunning goal early in the second half.

However, the Frenchman later conceded a penalty after a cynical foul inside the area, allowing Leeds back into the contest. Lewin converted from the spot to secure a point for the visitors.

The match also saw Maddison denied a late penalty after both the referee and VAR ruled that Lucas Nmecha had touched the ball before contact was made.

Maddison, who only recently returned after more than a year out through injury, was visibly angered by the decision and took to social media where he allegedly criticised the officiating.

"This post will be reviewed by the FA Disciplinary Department, which will determine if it brings into question the integrity of the referee," Hackett told Football Insider.

"If they decide that it does, he will be written to and asked for his observations, which then may result in a charge, and if found guilty, may result in a fine or suspension.

"In my opinion, it does question the match official's integrity, and he should be charged, but watch this space."
