The 27-year-old is set to join the La Liga giants for a reported 51-million-pound deal following a disappointing 2025/26 season with Chelsea, despite having won the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup ahead of the season.
Cucurella is said to have already agreed personal terms with Los Blancos, ending a four-year spell with the Blues since joining in a £60million move from Brighton and Hove Albion.
He had been linked with a move to Madrid's rivals Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, which developed him under their La Masia youth academy before loaning him out Eibar and Getafe, before selling him to the latter.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Cucurella was the top left-back that new manager Jose Mourinho wanted ahead of the 2026/27 campaign following the signings of centre-back Ibrahima Konate and right-back Denzel Dumfries.
He will join Madrid after representing Spain at the FIFA World Cup in North America.
