The North London outfit have undergone a squad rebuild after narrowly surviving relegation to the Championship following a poor 2025/26 campaign.
Italian head coach De Zerbi has overseen the transitional period which has seen former club captain Cristian Romero join La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid and England international Djed Spence moves to Serie A champions Inter Milan.
However, Tottenham have acquired several big signings with Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savinho, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson and Martin Dubravka moving to the club this summer for a reportedly combined fee of £303million.
"I don't feel pressure about the transfer market," said De Zerbi to SkySports ahead of their Carabao Cup second round clash against to Charlton Athletic.
"If I can, I want to spend more money again without problems, because the other teams don't spend anything different. We have nothing less than the other big clubs in the Premier League, especially now in my time. We are moving very well in the transfer market and why not?
"I can’t understand why Tottenham can't compete with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal. I don’t understand why Tottenham can’t spend the same money as Chelsea, Liverpool."
Spurs are also heavily linked with Manchester City's Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, with personal terms reportedly agreed.
De Zerbi and his side will be looking to turn things around in their next league match when they host Newcastle United following their opening match day 3-0 defeat to Brentford.
