Tottenham defenders avoid major injuries ahead of Man Utd clash

Van Hecke left the Netherlands camp after picking up a foot injury during the 2-1 win over Serbia. The defender had taken part in the first training session following the match before returning to London.

Reports suggest the injury is minor, leaving the 26-year-old in contention to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Van de Ven also suffered an injury during the victory over Serbia after Luka Jovic accidentally stepped on his hand. The Tottenham defender was in obvious discomfort and had to be replaced.

However, Netherlands manager Xavi provided a positive update after the match.

"He's okay. He was a bit dizzy because he had the finger injury, but it's not a big injury," Xavi said.

The news will come as a relief to Tottenham, who are currently bottom of the Premier League and face another difficult test against Manchester United.

Both Van Hecke and Van de Ven could therefore be available for the trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, October 10.
