Zidane hails Liverpool's Jeremy Jacquet after 'very good' France Nations League display

Jacquet completed 90 minutes in Friday's 1-1 draw with Italy in the UEFA Nations League, making his second appearance for the senior national team.

The 21-year-old made his France debut just four days earlier in the 1-0 win over Belgium, but he has already made a strong impression on Zidane.

The France head coach was particularly pleased with Jacquet's courage and his performance in the physical battles against Italy.

"Very good. Very, very good. Brave," Zidane told reporters.

"He wasn't afraid to come out a long way. Very good in the duels. He was, once again, very good. I said it four times."

Jacquet has quickly established himself as an important part of the France squad after making an impressive start to the 2026-27 season with Liverpool.

He had played in every match for Liverpool before the international break and was also nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

The defender admitted his first experience with the France senior team had exceeded his expectations.

"Better than I imagined," Jacquet said.

"To train with all these great players, it's just a great pleasure. I'm just trying to make the most of every moment."

France will face Belgium again on Monday at the Stade de France, with Jacquet now pushing for another opportunity to continue his rapid international progress.

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday, October 11, when they host Manchester City at Anfield.
