Zion Suzuki fighting hard to be fit after falling behind due to rib injury

The Aston Villa goalkeeper played the full 90 minutes of the 3-2 Premier League win over Tottenham a week ago but missed Japan's 3-1 friendly win over Uruguay on Thursday.

The former Parma stopper was expected to play in the match but was ultimately withdrawn from the team and has since begun his rehabilitation.

"I've fallen a bit behind, but I want to get back into shape quickly and get myself back to 100 per cent," the goalkeeper said on Livedoor News.

Suzuki is also expected to miss upcoming friendly games against Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama during the current international break.

Villa are next in action at home against Brentford on October 10.
