Ngwenya has enjoyed a remarkable start to the 2026/27 campaign, scoring eight goals in six appearances across all competitions.
The 23-year-old Zimbabwean has found the net six times in the Betway Premiership, with his other two goals coming in the MTN8 quarter-final against Sekhukhune United.
His performances were rewarded on Tuesday when he was named the Betway Premiership Player of the Month for August/September after scoring five goals in four league matches.
Ngwenya continued his impressive run last Friday, scoring the winning goal as AmaZulu defeated Richards Bay 2-1 at King Zwelithini Stadium.
Zwane believes the striker could have enjoyed an even bigger season last campaign had injury not disrupted his progress. Ngwenya scored seven goals in 19 appearances before suffering a severe fracture.
"I wouldn't want to put Ngwenya under pressure," Zwane was quoted by Sportswire.
"I'm the type of coach that says one step at a time, one game at a time, but I want him to score in every game that he plays. On Friday against Richards Bay, he actually could have scored three or four."
The AmaZulu coach believes Ngwenya has the instinct and aggression required to become a prolific goalscorer.
"He has so much potential. I'm just hoping and praying that he doesn't get injured," said Zwane.
"It doesn't matter if it's half a chance; the ball is up in the air, he becomes aggressive, and he wants to score. We want that."
Zwane has challenged Ngwenya to make the most of his opportunities and believes 20 goals are within his reach.
"I'm encouraging him and challenging him because he can score 20 if he wants to."
Ngwenya will look to continue his scoring streak when AmaZulu host Marumo Gallants in a league encounter at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday.
