Elias Mokwana parts ways with Tunisian giants Esperance - reports

The 27-year-old former Platinum City and Sekhukhune United midfielder joined Esperance in 2024.

He played 37 games, scoring six goals and assisting four as the club won the 2024/25 Tunisian Premier League, Tunisian Cup and Tunisian Super Cup.

Last season though, he was sent out on loan to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hazem SC, playing 26 times, with one goal and three assists.

Mokwana still had a year left to run on his contract but agreed to part ways with Esperance, with no new deals forthcoming, despite reported interest from both Libya and Saudi Arabia.

"Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana is officially a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Tunisian giants Esperance. The agreement brings the 27-year-old’s two-year stay with the Tunisian champions to an end," wrote FARPost.

iDiski Times added "the player has now terminated his contract, parting ways amicably due to the registration dilemma with the club.

"Having been linked to several clubs in North Africa and the Gulf in recent weeks, sources have stated Mokwana will 'assess his options carefully' before making the next crucial move of his career as he looks to get back into the senior national team set-up."
