The former Orlando Pirates star scored the decisive penalty as Union Saint-Gilloise defeated reigning Belgian champions Club Brugge 5-4 in a penalty shootout after the match ended 1-1.
The 21-year-old made an immediate impact after coming off the bench, helping inspire his side's comeback after they had trailed 1-0 for much of the contest before eventually forcing penalties.
Speaking to the club's media, the Vaal-born midfielder expressed his delight at contributing to the team's success and praised his new teammates for making him feel at home.
"I am happy because I won my first cup here. I'm very excited. Everyone has been very welcoming, and they have helped boost my confidence," said Mofokeng in a video posted on the club's X account.
"That's why I stepped up to take the penalty. My teammates are the best, and that's why we won this cup. We are a family, and that's what made the difference."
Mofokeng also revealed that assistant coach Artur Kopyt's faith in him played a key role in giving him the confidence to take the decisive spot-kick.
He added: "Coach Artur came to us and told us who would be taking the penalties. They saw me taking penalties in training yesterday, and that gave me even more confidence. Scoring my first goal in my first game has really boosted my confidence, and now we just want to keep going."
