Kwayiba looking to score more goals for Stellenbosch ahead of Gallants clash

The forward opened his account for the Stellies in Tuesday's entertaining 3-3 draw against Polokwane City, capping a determined start to his time at the club following his move from Chippa United at the beginning of the season.

Although Stellenbosch were forced to settle for a point after conceding three goals, Kwayiba was encouraged by the team's resilience in a physically demanding encounter.

"It wasn't easy at all. It was a physical game against a tough opponent, but we were well prepared and showed good fighting spirit to come out with a point away from home," Kwayiba said.

The 27-year-old is now eager to turn his breakthrough goal into the foundation for a consistent run-in front of goal.

"As a striker, you want to score as many goals as you can, so I always keep working hard to make sure that if I get a chance, I am able to take it," he added.

Kwayiba's goal also came at an important time for Stellenbosch, who were looking for their first point of the campaign after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu FC in their opening league fixture.

The draw against Polokwane City moved the Cape Winelands side onto one point, with Stellies currently occupying 12th position on the league standings.

They will now turn their attention to Gallants, who sit 10th with one point. Gallants began their campaign with a goalless draw against Kruger United, while their scheduled opening fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns was postponed.

With both sides still searching for their first league victory, Kwayiba will hope his first goal can provide the platform for more goals and help Stellenbosch climb the table.
