The Scottland FC captain returns to face his former club in the Toyota Cup on Sunday with fond memories of the team he says became his "first home" away from Zimbabwe.
Musona arrived at Naturena in 2009 from Zimbabwean side Aces Youth SA and quickly established himself as one of the Premier Soccer League's brightest talents. His impressive performances earned him a move to German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim before spells in Belgium and Saudi Arabia, eventually returning to Zimbabwe.
Speaking ahead of his first appearance against Chiefs since leaving for Europe, the 36-year-old admitted the occasion carries special significance.
"This was my first home outside Zimbabwe and I'm so grateful to Kaizer Chiefs because they gave me the platform when I was young to showcase my talent," Musona said at the Toyota Cup press conference.
"From here I went abroad, so I'm very happy and very honoured to be back here and playing against the team that gave me the platform."
Musona enjoyed two spells at AmaKhosi, scoring 40 goals and registering 13 assists in 88 appearances, cementing his place among the club's memorable forwards.
Now leading Scottland, the veteran striker is preparing for an emotional reunion when his side takes on Chiefs in the third edition of the Toyota Cup at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex in Rustenburg on Sunday.
