The Chelsea FC midfielder, who turned 24 in November, already has 60 international caps and is now viewed as one of the senior figures in the Ecuador squad. Despite his age, Caicedo has taken on a leadership role, helping guide younger players as La Tri look to improve on their last World Cup campaign.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Caicedo said: "I'm more prepared (for this World Cup) than the previous one."
He added: "Being one of the leading players is amazing and playing in my second World Cup is going to be nice. For sure, I'm going to help my team-mates, because for some of them it's going to be their first World Cup.
"So, I'm excited to help them and show them what I'm capable of."
Ecuador head into the tournament after a strong qualifying campaign, finishing second only to Argentina in South American qualifying. Four years ago in Qatar, they were unable to progress beyond the group stage, something Caicedo and his team are determined to improve on this time.
"It will be very special to be there," he said. "The fans will be supporting us in the tournament and we are so excited. For sure, we are going to do really well."
Ecuador will begin their Group E campaign against Ivory Coast, before facing Germany and Curacao.
