Spence has enhanced his reputation with a series of impressive displays for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup before their campaign ended in a 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina. Despite being under contract with Tottenham until 30 June 2029, his future in north London remains uncertain.
Inter reportedly turned their full attention to Spence after missing out on Anan Khalaili. The club's planned move for the winger collapsed when he failed his medical, prompting Inter president Beppe Marotta to switch his focus to the Tottenham full-back.
Negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, although there is still a gap in their valuations.
Inter are hoping to complete a deal worth between 25 million and 30 million euros, while Tottenham are holding out for a fee closer to between 35 million and 40 million euros after Spence's outstanding World Cup performances.
Spence is also understood to be keen on the move. The defender has reportedly made it clear he would welcome the chance to return to Serie A after previously spending time on loan at Genoa.
Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi is expected to reshape his squad during the summer transfer window, with the full-back position one of the areas under review. Talks over Spence's future are expected to continue as Spurs assess their options.
Spence joined Tottenham in 2022 and has also spent loan spells at Rennes and Leeds United.
