Chiefs, Pirates Sta'Playa Campaign Set To Get Bigger And Better During Off-Season As A R2M Worth House Is Up For Grabs

by SuperSportBet

29 May 2025

The domestic campaign of Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates came to an end this week after both teams won silverware each.

Chiefs won the Nedbank Cup, ending their 10 year drought, while Pirates became the first team to win three MTN8 crowns in a row.

The two sides had different Betway Premiership campaigns, though, as Amakhosi finished outside the Top 8, while Pirates finished No 2 on the log.

But there’ll be nothing separating the joy of both sets of supporters during the off-season period as the betting partner of both clubs, SuperSportBet, has ensured there’s lots to win.

Sta’Playa Set-Outs Rewards, Including A R2M House

SuperSportBet introduced a new era of fan-first innovation, Sta’Playa campaign, on April 28, allowing the fans of both Pirates and Chiefs to engage with their clubs.

This campaign is set-out to entertain experiences that celebrate club culture, personality, and pride.

Sta’ Playa - played through SuperSportBet’s exclusive online slot games, Amakhosi Cash and Bucs Gold Rush - is built for the fans, by the fans.

Each spin on either Amakhosi Cash or Bucs Gold Rush unlocks the chance to win epic rewards - daily, weekly and eventually a house worth R2 Million on August 7.

How To Become A Sta’Playa

Sta’ Playa is easy to access and play on SuperSportBet through Amakhosi Cash and Bucs Gold Rush - on an unlimited basis as that increases the chances of winning.

Amakhosi Cash and Bucs Gold Rush are officially licensed slot games of Chiefs and Pirates, developed in partnership with the respective clubs and SuperSportBet.

As such, Amakhosi Cash and Bucs Gold Rush games are based on trusted gaming provider Red Tiger, which is a classic.

The step to setting up a SuperSportBet account, and Sta’ Playa entry are relatively easy on the website. Click here: https://www.supersportbet.com/l/staplaya/

E.G, the ultimate winner of the house can accept a cash alternative (value less associated fees and furnishing costs) if they don’t want the house which will be built in Soweto.

Sta’Playa Customer Already Winning Big

The daily and weekly winnings started a week after the campaign was launched and are set to run until July 31, keeping SuperSportBet customers happy during the off-season break.

The weekly giveaways competition runs every Sunday, with the campaign now in week 5 of week 13 before the ultimate winner of a brand new house is announced.

In the first four weeks of the SuperSportBet customer giveaway initiative courtesy of Sta’ Playa, 170 staunch fans of the two clubs have walked away with vouchers worth R130 000.

These vouchers consisted of apparels from the technical sponsors of both Chiefs and Pirates, Kappa and Adidas, respectively.

In week one, 100 fans scored R500 worth of Adidas and Kappa vouchers each, while in week two and three, 50 and 10 customers bagged R1 000 vouchers respectively.

In week four, 10 SuperSportBet customers scored Adidas and Kappa vouchers worth R2000 each.

In the fifth, and current, week, 10 customers are set to bag vouchers worth R1000 each which they’ll use to buy either Adidas or Kappa apparel depending on the team they support.

So, since its launch late in April, Sta’ Playa has lived up to its mandate to “celebrate and reward the fans who live the game every day”.

Something To Celebrate For Chiefs and Pirates’ Fans

Sta’ Playa might be rolling out off-season festivities, but it has already brought life-changing memories during the back-back Soweto derbies early May.

Lucky fans were treated with match-day tickets and behind-the-scenes player access experiences after registering either at the match-venue or on their mobiles.

It was a worthwhile experience for both sets of fans as Chiefs and Pirates bagged huge wins in either the Betway Premiership or Nedbank Cup.

Pirates Achieve No 2 Finish On The Log

Pirates completed their fifth successive win over Chiefs in the league, winning 2-1 at FNB Stadium as they edged closer to their - now-sealed - second-place finish on the log.

As such, then Pirates’ coach Jose Riveiro, who’s since left the club after being released early from his contract, said the derby will forever hold a special place in his heart.

“These two clubs are painting a beautiful picture of South African football - I think the history of football in the country belongs to a high percentage to Pirates and Chiefs,” he said.

“I think it’s [the derby] it’s something enjoyable, and unique. When I say unique, I mean people enjoy the game together and peacefully.

“I think that peaceful way to enjoy the derby is something that you cannot see anywhere else - at least to my knowledge, maybe there is somewhere out there.

“Maybe in 5-10 years, if I manage to get there, it’s one of the moments, for sure, that when I look back, I will remember forever.

“That moment that you feel in this venue with the people cheering you on for 100 minutes, non-stop, which I had the privilege of living for at least 7-8 times, is something special!”

Riveiro left the jersey better than he found it at Pirates as his former assistant coach and now interim coach Mandla Ncikazi won one game and drew three before the end of the term.

That run ensured that Pirates finished the season with 61 points - the first time they’ve bagged more than 60 points since the 2002/03 champion winning campaign.

Chiefs End Trophy Drought

However, Chiefs had their last laugh over their bitter-rivals as they won the Nedbank Cup final in their back-to-back derby seven days at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

That triumph didn’t only end Amakhosi’s 10-year drought, but it guaranteed them a spot in continental football via the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi was justifiable on cloud nine after the triumph, having his team been under pressure to achieve something this season after a rollercoaster campaign.

“It’s an important trophy firstly for the fans and entire management of the club, “ said Nabi, through his assistant and translator Cedric Kaze at Moses Mabhida.

“My first objective coming to Kaizer Chiefs was for the process - rebuild the club and get it back to its natural position. After [completing] that I will go home.

“I am happy with the trophy because, maybe, it has helped me to continue with the process, and get more confidence from the fans and the observing personnel.”

Indeed, winning the Nedbank Cup to end their trophy drought at the expense of arch-rival, might give coach Nasreddine Nabi some time at the helm especially after the Top 8 disaster.

This week, the Tunisia born coach was spotted in Tanzania, watching the match between Simba SC and Singida Black Stars, alongside Chiefs’ head scout Thembela Maliwa.

Chiefs, Pirates, SuperSportBet All Thrilled To Launch Sta’Playa

The announcement of the imminent launch of Sta’Playa by all three parties - SuperSportBet, Chiefs and Pirates - on April 15 sent the iconic FNB Stadium into a frenzy.

The supporters of both clubs made their presence felt at FNB as they graciously took banter at each ahead of what was two of their three biggest games of the domestic season.

Elite representatives from all three stakeholders graced the event as well, waxing lyrical about what a game-changer Sta’ Playa will be for the supporters of the two Soweto giants.

“Sta’ Playa is a celebration of South African football in all its glory,” said Grant Greeff, managing director of SuperSportBet.

“It’s not just about watching your team - it’s about living the culture, feeling the rivalry, and being part of something bigger.

“With Amakhosi Cash and Bucs Gold Rush, we’re giving fans new ways to play, win, and express their passion.

“This will happen all while championing responsible gambling, which remains central to our role as the official betting partner of these two iconic clubs.”

Chiefs, through marketing and commercial director Jessica Motaung, shared their sentiments of being one with the fans, especially during times of celebration.

“Kaizer Chiefs has always been committed to finding innovative ways to engage and empower our supporters,” said Motaung.

“The Sta’ Playa campaign, along with Amakhosi Cash … offers our fans a fresh, modern way to celebrate their passion for the club - with pride, excitement, and safety at the core.”

Meanwhile, with ‘the Ghost’, Pirates fans, known as the soulful owners of the club, Thandi Merafe, brand communication and partnership manager, said it was key to reward them.

“The Buccaneer spirit lives in our fans - bold, loyal, and passionate. Sta’ Playa is an exciting platform to celebrate that energy in a fun and rewarding way,” Merafe said.

“With the exclusive Bucs Gold Rush game, we’re giving supporters a fresh way to engage with the club they love and be recognised for their unwavering support.”

Vouchers Up For Grabs In Week Five

Again, the stakes - and so are the rewards - are even higher on week five as 10 vouchers worth R1000 on official Kappa (Chiefs) or Adidas (Pirates) are up for grabs.

But in order to pick up points, customers must first and foremost choose their teams as soon as they can.
