PSL Wrap: Milford claim first top-flight win, Durban derby ends in draw

Milford make history

The Stallions edged Siwelele thanks to a late strike by Menzi Chili at the Richards Bay Stadium.

Siwelele opened the match with relentless attacking intent, firing off 12 shots in the first half. Only three found the target, as Jason Clifford, Sphesihle Jeza and Vincent Pule each forced Milford goalkeeper Siphamandla Hleza into important saves.

Milford controlled the majority of possession but struggled to create clear chances, leaving Siwelele stopper Goitseone Phoko largely untested through the opening 45 minutes.

At the start of the second stanza, Siwelele sought more creativity by replacing Clifford with Tebogo Potsane. The match’s rhythm remained similar, though Milford grew increasingly confident.

Their patience paid off in the 77th minute when Chili broke the deadlock. Exploiting space in the Siwelele defence, Chili gave the hosts the lead they had been threatening.

With 10 minutes left, the Bloemfontein side responded by introducing Christian Saile and Neo Mokhachane in search of an equaliser. Their hopes were ultimately dashed late on when Thabiso Seseane was sent off for a second bookable offence, leaving Siwelele to finish the match a man down and unable to salvage a result.

Dull draw in Durban

Golden Arrows managed to keep out Durban City as they played to a goalless stalemate at Chatsworth Stadium.

A delayed kickoff, caused by wet conditions, set the tone for a tightly contested KwaZulu-Natal derby. Durban City dominated possession and registered numerous attempts, but only Tylo Sanger and Gaston Sirino troubled Arrows goalkeeper Edward Maova.

Arrows offered limited threat, mostly on counter-attack. Midfielder Nhlanhla Zwane tested Durban keeper Fredrick Asare with one shot on target.

The second half mirrored the first, with the Citizens continuing to press while Arrows remained compact. The increasingly cut-up pitch made flowing football difficult, and tension mounted as the clock ticked down without a winner.
