According to FARPost, the 40-year-old shot-stopper is expected in Harare on Monday to finalise a move to Caps United, bringing an end to a 14-year stay in South Africa's top-flight.
Arubi leaves behind a legacy built on consistency, durability and elite goalkeeping standards. His most recent club was Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants, where he spent the last two seasons.
His journey south of the border began in 2012 after helping Dynamos FC secure back-to-back Castle Lager Premier Soccer League titles in 2011 and 2012. What followed was a career that stretched across multiple clubs and established him among Zimbabwe's most successful exports.
Arubi featured for the University of Pretoria, Black Aces, Stellenbosch FC, SuperSport United - now Siwelele FC - Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Marumo Gallants, accumulating more than 220 top-flight appearances and recording over 60 clean sheets.
One of the defining moments of his South African career came in the 2020/21 season when he helped TTM lift the Nedbank Cup and walked away with the Player of the Tournament award, adding to a reputation strengthened by clutch penalty shootout performances.
His expected arrival at Caps United also carries historical significance. Having previously represented Highlanders and Dynamos, Arubi is set to become one of the few players to turn out for all three of Zimbabwe's traditional football giants.
Caps United are expected to hand the experienced goalkeeper a two-year contract as a replacement for Wallace Magalane. If completed, the deal could see Arubi continue playing until the age of 43 - further extending an already exceptional career.
At international level, Arubi earned 30 caps for Zimbabwe and remained the Warriors' trusted goalkeeper, with his latest appearances coming at the 2025 AFCON finals in Morocco.
