Inter Milan issue warning as Barcelona chase Alessandro Bastoni signing

Bastoni, 26, has emerged as Barcelona's leading defensive target, with reports suggesting the Italy international is open to the move. Talks have reportedly begun with his representatives over personal terms, while figures of around 55 million euros plus a young player have been discussed in the media.

Bastoni's current contract at Inter Milan expires on 30 June 2028.

However, Inter have insisted no formal approach has been made.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio addressed the speculation during the Inside the Sport 2026 event, stressing the club's stance.

"Bastoni has a contract with Inter and there are no indications that he is going to leave," Ausilio said. "We are happy with him and we are sure that he will continue to contribute much."

He added a direct message to interested clubs: "If someone is interested, call us, they have our numbers. We have not yet considered tactical changes in the transfer market. We will postpone conversations about the future until there is more tranquillity. Right now, there are objectives to achieve."

Barcelona's interest comes as they look to strengthen their back line ahead of next season, but Inter's firm response highlights the difficulty of any deal.

There has also been talk of potential player exchanges. Young right-back Hector Fort has been linked with Inter, while highly rated winger Roony Bardghji has also been mentioned as part of a possible package.

Any such arrangement would depend on player approval, as well as Inter's valuation of incoming talent. For now, the Italian side remain focused on their current campaign, with Ausilio making it clear that Bastoni is not on the market unless clubs come knocking the right way.
