Arrows hold a 1-0 aggregate advantage after winning the first leg, putting them within touching distance of the final.
However, former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Given Mashikinya believes the club's most iconic MTN8 moment remains their famous 6-0 demolition of Ajax Cape Town in 2009.
"When I hear MTN8, what comes to mind is Golden Arrows, because they gave us an iconic performance, an iconic memory that I don't think any South African football fanatic can ever forget," said Mashikinya as quoted by Soccer Laduma.
That memorable Arrows side featured several players who went on to make their mark in South African football, including Thandoyise Khuboni, Njabulo Manqana, Thabani Mshengu, Kagisho Dikgacoi and Siyabonga Sangweni.
Mashikinya believes the quality of that group helped make the performance one that remains firmly etched in the memories of supporters.
The former midfielder also knows the pain of falling short in the competition, having finished as an MTN8 runner-up twice during his time with Celtic.
Despite those disappointments, the 2009 Arrows performance remains his defining memory of the tournament.
Now, the current Arrows generation has a chance to create its own piece of history. With Sundowns standing between them and the final, the Durban-based outfit will be hoping their one-goal advantage proves enough.
Whether they can produce another performance that reaches the legendary heights of 2009 remains to be seen, but victory over Sundowns would give Arrows another MTN8 moment to remember.
