Mamelodi Sundowns urged to consider Monnapule Saleng for Orlando Pirates clash

Saleng is yet to make an appearance for Sundowns this season after spending an extended period training away from the first team following disciplinary issues which also saw him being left out of the pre-season tour of Austria.

However, Saleng has recently returned to training with the first team, with the former Pirates attacker spotted working alongside his teammates at Chloorkop on Wednesday morning as Sundowns continued preparations for the clash against his former club.

Carelse feels the winger's return can only be positive for the Tshwane-based outfit, particularly given the creativity he can offer.

"That's good for him personally and good for the team. I think he's a player we need, he's got a lot of creativity and the fans obviously like him, they obviously would like to see him playing," Carelse told KickOff.

"So, hopefully he will get back into the squad and back into the field as quickly as possible. But we're excited to see him come back again."

With Saleng potentially in contention for a place in the match-day squad, Carelse believes there would be no reason to leave him out if he is ready to contribute.

He added: "Yes, why not? I think if he's fit enough and he can do something for the team, yes definitely. I think players who play against their former clubs always have a point to prove or want to perform well, so it can be a good plus for Sundowns".
