The Buccaneers confirmed Pedersen's arrival on Sunday evening, shortly after the team returned to South Africa from their pre-season tour of Spain.
In a statement released on the club's official website, Pirates announced that the 27-year-old joins from Norwegian outfit Sogndal Fotball on a two-year contract, with an option to extend the deal by a further season.
"Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Sebastian Pedersen from Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball. The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the Club holding an option to extend for a further season," read the statement.
"He becomes the newest addition to Abdeslam Ouaddou's squad as the Buccaneers prepare for a competitive season ahead."
Pedersen arrives with an impressive scoring record, having reportedly netted 51 goals in 117 appearances, earning a reputation as a clinical finisher in front of goal.
The club also highlighted the striker's footballing pedigree, noting his development through Norway's national youth structures.
"Pedersen arrives from one of Norwegian football's great talent factories. The blonde bomber is cut from that cloth, having featured at junior national team level from Under-15 all the way to Under-21," the club said.
The new signing is expected to compete for a place in the starting XI alongside Bafana Bafana forward Evidence Makgopa, as well as Yanela Mbuthuma and Boitumelo Radiopane, as Ouaddou shapes his squad for the upcoming campaign.
Pirates will be hoping Pedersen's proven eye for goal adds another dimension to their attack as they look to defend their Betway Premiership crown while challenging for domestic and continental honours in the new season.
